A small town, Terengganu is located on the east coast of peninsula Malaysia. It is the capital of the state of Terengganu and the seat of the sultan. It has long been the centre for arts and crafts within the country. Here the visitor will be able to view and purchase batik, brass, silverware and kain songket. Like most coastal towns it started its life as a small fishing village but since the discovery of oil and gas offshore, is now a major city. Conservative by most city standards there is little to do or see here and nightlife is all but non-existent. Most visitors use it as a transit point when travelling to places nearby.
