Full marks for simplicity and comfort in these wood-and-bamboo bungalows that spill across the hillside in a tropical garden setting. Each of the ten rooms has its own quirky design trait; a bamboo plant holder on the balcony, a hanging shell mobile, an artful driftwood fence. In a kind of Bali-meets-Thailand style, a stone statue of elephant God Ganesh greets you at the entrance, along with fresh flowers that line the pathway. The bungalows are simple and surprisingly spacious, beds are comfortable, there is even enough space to stow your backpack on the shelves and cupboards. The bathrooms are a step up from normal budget bungalow style, spacious, clean and with a unique “outdoor” feel.
Chunut House is located just 15 minutes walk from the pier. It is an easy 5 minute walk to the beaches on Loh Dalum Bay or Ton Sai Bay. You will find many restaurants, bars and shops in the heart of town which is just a 10 minute walk away.
