Nearby Attraction

Central Silom Complex (Shopping Center)
Central Silom Complex is a shopping center located in the centre of Bangkok’s commercial district. Central Silom Complex is compact in size, but a true gem. It is surrounded by a wide range of shops, cafés and restaurants in the shopping complex, including various business related venues for added convenience for ex-pats and the local working population - an easy getaway for a quick break from a demanding day at work. It is easily accessible from BTS Sala Daeng Station and the MRT Silom Station.

Somboon Seafood
A few step walk from Red Planet Hotel, Silom on the right hand side. A busy seafood hall with a reputation far and wide, is known for doing the best curry-powder crab in town. Soy-steamed sea bass is also a specialty and, like all good Thai seafood, should be enjoyed with an immense platter of fried rice with crab and as many friends as you can gather together.

Jim Thompson Restaurant and Bar (Surawong Branch)
The latest offering in The Thai Silk Company’s growing hospitality roster is the Thompson Restaurant and Lounge, located at 146-6 Surawong Road a few blocks from Jim Thompson’s flagship store for fashions and fabrics. Providing a refined and sumptuous refuge from the city’s hurly-burly, the new venue is an ideal place to meet and relax with friends and colleagues when near Silom Road, Bangkok’s central district for business and shopping.

Sri Mahamariamman Temple (Wat Khaek)
Wat Kheak located in the middle part of Silom Road, on the corner formed by Silom Road and Pan Road. Dedicated to the Goddess Mariamman it was built by Tamil immigrants in the 1860s. There is a thriving Hindu community in Bangkok, and when visiting this temple you will notice many local worshippers. Entrance is through the gopuram, in classical South-Indian style. The gopuram is the threshold between the material and the spiritual world inside the temple.

Shopping area and Nightlife
Silom Soi 4 (Patpong Night Market) and Thaniya Plaza are also just off Silom, as are plenty of more (and less) salubrious bars. Also, the sidewalks of Silom itself become a huge market carrying everything and then after working hours they turn into sidewalk cafes and bars.
