We've stayed at the Pearl Manila many times in the past so it is like a home away from home for us. The service is very good and although a bit dated, the rooms are clean and comfortable. We usually get a Jr Suite for the extra room. Most have a view either of Manila Bay, and the City. There is a decent restaurant with good food and service. The fresh brewed coffee is excellent and the prices are fair. There is free WiFi in the restaurant/lounge area and an Internet cafe just across the street. The nice rooftop pool is yours to enjoy. There are a couple convenience stores just across from the hotel for your snacks and drinks. For us the location is perfect. Located on a quiet street, the hotel is not too far from the Airport, and Robinson's mall is just a short walk as are most major banks, restaurants and services. This is real Manila friends, not like the touristy Makiti district. People are friendly and love to talk with foreigners. Tip: Lots of great street food close by as well. Just watch the locals to see where they eat and the food should be good, clean and safe.

The check in proceedure is complicated, even for a pre paid online booking, they require a full card to be filled in for each guest. The reception staff are not particularly friendly, and you need a seperate voucher to use any facility except the lift. None of the electronic gym equipment functions (eg bike or eleptical cross trainer) but there is a good range of free weights. We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite - the light was faulty in the second room, which was repaired on request. The hand basin was cracked and the carpets are very badly worn. Included buffet breakfast is still fine, but it is not what it had been when we stayed in 2009. Resturant has good food but is expensive. Room is equipped with a kitchenette with large fridge, but there is no plates, utensils, cups or coffee making facility, and the complimentary water is now smaller

We had a nice experience at Pearl Manila. In terms of service provided by the staff, we do not have any complaints. Just had a bit of problem with the 'slow' elevator.
