This Hotel is a work in progress! Without a good discount, there are other hotels that give "value for money". The hotel did not honor the free ride to the airport as stated in your web page.

The Hotel looks fine and service was excellent. Initially we stayed in one room but the carpet was very dirty and we informed them, they immediately changed the room for us. The hotel is nearer to the restaurant and Market and also 20min driving to pagoda. It was nice to stay there.

Well as Mynamar is now a little bit more at ease with its self I thought it was time to pay Yangon a visit .The Hotel was my 4th or 5th pick as the others were full I was disappointed when I saw the Hotel because the photo shows a nice tidy area and a clean looking Hotel ,these are a little misleading the Hotel is dated and dirty but the staff that work there at the moment are good hard working people its just the Hotel requires a real facelift it looks the same as it did 20 or 30 years ago .It was raining for 4 out of 5 days we were there but went out and got wet rather than stay in the room .The Breakfast was ok usual stuff fruit ,eggs, toast and a mixture of Asian foods fried rice/noodle potato rice porridge and fried vegetables something for everyone but you had to be sharp as it finished at 9am .The hall leading to the room smelled of catPee or damp and the first room we were in was flooded with water at the window but the staff changed us into another room which looked the same but was at least dry no dbl bed they just push two singles together then you get that big crease down the middle of the bed so we would have been as well sleeping in singles .The area around the Hotel is residential and has shops etc at the end of the street and the Lake which is around 7 minutes walk is quite beautiful with some restaurants and things going on . Yangon once you have seen the SHWEDAGON PAGODA its time to move on and look and see what else Burma has to offer we did have some great seafood meals though at a restaurant used by Burmese and the bill for two with drinks was never over 30,000 which is $30 US and at a small friendly restaurant next door called the Tuscan Bistro which served Western food Steak, chicken ,pork etc and had a good wine list and Bar area downstairs which in season when the weather is fine Yangon will look better I think the time of year and the grey sky and dirty buildings didn't make my first visit memorable until I saw the Pagoda Shwedagon its Burmas Angkor Wat and im sure there must be even more take your breath away sights all over this country and I will go back again between November and March next time to MANDALAY and MOGOK and BAGAN . We did go to see the Golden Rock again it rained all day and couldn't see the rock for fog and the gate was locked for safety reasons ,it is not Bangkok you get an hour or two of rain in the wet season this was full on sheets of rain for the whole day and we were herded into a tipper truck to be ferried up the mountain around 20 people and a weeks supply of food and things for the mountain dwellers .I think at the right time of year this would be a wonderful place to visit as it has viewing platforms all over and you are literarly at the top of the mountain which will give beautiful views of the area from high up . What can I tell you Burma is going to take time to realise its potential and for its people to realise what they have to do to provide for visitors but im happy to have been, just disappointed that I could not see the country as I would have liked with warm sun and blue sky, beautiful sunsets and drinks outside ,next time for sure and look forward to Mandalay so much I can almost taste the coffee which in 5 days I never had one bad cup and im quite fussy but Burmas coffee is good and the people are nice too so any issues I had were quickly forgotten because of coffee and a smile as for the Hotel if you can afford to stay at a 4 or 5 star then do it at least in Yangon because 1,2,3, Star really are what they say expect no matching furniture, power cuts worn carpets and no amenities or just use it as a bed for the night and get out and about the Gem Museum is close by around 10 minutes by taxi that was interesting but the Gem Dealers were a bit pricey and really I couldn't be bothered haggling so just bought some cheap jade and smokey quartz bangles but the Rubies and Sapphires were OTT prices ,I think I will wait to Mogok to treat myself to a ruby !
