The staff at Rich Queen was extremely friendly! Our room was spotless. Sheets and towels were fresh. We were presented with a cup of coffee or tea upon arrival. The location was not within walking distance of the Myanmar Marionette Theatre or Mandalay Palace, but the staff readily phoned a taxi. They also recommended a wonderful restaurant for dinner that was a short walk from the hotel.

Considering other options the location of this hotel is actually pretty good. Close to a typical market and with a 15 minutes walk you can reach the pier to catch the boat for Mingun. My bedroom was really dark, with just a window facing a wall 2 feet in front of it, but it does the trick if you can adapt to it. The cleanliness is on average FOR BURMESE STANDARDS, not for international ones. The really positive note about this hotel is actually the wifi, which worked pretty good when I was there, if compared with the terrible services of other places where I stayed. One negative note is about a guy who approached me when I arrived and basically forced me to go with him as a taxi driver around for some excursion. Although it was nice and a particular experience, he surcharged me the fixed amount without telling me ahead about it for the sunrise at the bridge, and I didn't find that really honest/transparent. Breakfast is pretty decent, and you get to see cnn news in the morning if you're interested.
