Angkor Wat

The world's largest religious temple and complex built by Suryavarman II was the heart of the powerful Khmer Empire. This complex of 72 temples and courtyards now stands as an important World Heritage Site.

From massive stone faces gazing across the Bayon, to elaborate carvings adorning almost every facade, the Angkor Temple Complex displays the finest artistry of a cultured and complex civilization.

Allson Angkor Hotel Siem Reap is a mere 15-minute drive to this unique Wonder of the World.

Tonle Sap

Tonle Sap Great Lake is the largest freshwater floodplain lake in the world, increasing and decreasing in size annually from 3000 sq. km at the peak of the dry season in May to 12,000 sq. km during the wet season in October, and varying in depth from 1m to 14m over the same period.

This annual flood cycle creates an incredibly productive environment for both wildlife and people. The seasonally inundated forest and scrub around the lake has been recognised since 1994 as the last breeding stronghold in Southeast Asia for a number of globally threatened large water birds, particularly pelicans, storks and ibis.

Old Market (Phsar Chas)

During the day and into the early evening the south side of the market near the river is bustling with souvenir and silk vendors hawking a wide variety of Cambodian handicrafts, textiles, statues and curios. The Old Market closes at sunset, but many of the souvenir vendors in the south section of the market stay open past 8pm. Allson Angkor Hotel Siem Reap is a mere 5 minute drive to the market.

Pub Street / Old French Quarter

After the sun goes down, the focus shifts a block or two east of the Old Market to 'Pub Street,' so named for the numerous and varied restaurants and pubs that line the street from one end to the other. There is an amazing variety of restaurants offering an international selection of cuisines.

The whole 'Pub Street' area is the centre of nightlife in Siem Reap these days with most places staying open until at least midnight and a few are open till even later. It is only a five-minute drive to Pub Street from the hotel.
